A greener future at Rua Hills

At Rua Hills, sustainability isn't simply a goal — it's being planted into the landscape every day

Building a more sustainable comunity

At Rua Hills, creating a thriving and sustainable community goes far beyond building homes. It is about shaping an environment where people and nature can flourish together for generations to come.

As part of our commitment to ecological enhancement and environmental stewardship, a significant planting programme is transforming the landscape across the development.

By the end of the 2026 planting season, more than 60,000 native shrubs and groundcovers and 750 trees will have been established throughout Rua Hills.

These plantings have been carefully integrated into riparian corridors, wetlands, rain gardens, streetscapes and ecological connections across the community. Together, they will help improve water quality, support native biodiversity, create habitat for birds and wildlife, and enhance the natural character that makes Rua Hills such a special place to live.

Growing a lasting legacy

The Hugh Green Group has partnered with Natural Habitats and LandLAB, two of New Zealand's foremost landscaping and architecture companies, to deliver this ambitious programme at Rua Hills, ensuring each stage contributes to a greener, healthier and more resilient environment.

As the trees mature and native ecosystems continue to establish, residents will enjoy greener streets, increased shade, improved biodiversity and a stronger connection to nature.

These investments today will leave a lasting legacy for future generations and help ensure Rua Hills remains a community where people can live, work and play in harmony with the natural environment.

At Rua hills, sustainability isn't simple a goal, it's being planted into the landscape every day.
